Week 8 in Renwick3!

Monday night was our annual Family Picnic Tea. What a great night! Blue skies, friends & families, fine food and laughter filled the evening.

This week we had a special treat with 2 lessons in the Life Education Bus. Helen and Harrold were the teachers. We had loads of fun learning about getting along together and about our bodies.

During reading time we work hard to complete our set tasks!

Next Week…Our letters will be ‘l’ and ‘f’, so watch out for the alphabet books coming home. Our words will be ‘like’ and ‘for’.
During maths time our whole class focus will be recognising the numbers 1-10 on our hands.
For topic work Steph and the children will be looking at the different roles and responsibilities people have within our school. The children will be out with the camera ‘catching’ people busy in their work.
Parent interviews are this coming week. However, our door is always open and we are happy to make a time to chat if you ever have any concerns.
Have a happy and safe week!

Week 7 in Renwick 3

This week Louis brought in his Tiger Moth plane for news that he had made at home. We were all very impressed!

This week Sarah brought her worm farm to school to show us. She told us lots of interesting information about worms, such as, what they eat, why they are so good for our gardens, and how to care for them. Sarah used gloves to handle the worms so she didn't burn their skin.

Next week...
Our letters for next week will be 'o' and 'u', so look out for the alphabet books coming home. The words of the week will be 'went' and 'said'.
During maths time we will be looking at ordering numbers.
Steph and the children have been busy working on our topic 'Friendship'. They are now talking about their rights at school and what responsibilties they have to support those rights. For example, it is every childs right to have a safe environment to work in, therefore, it is every childs responsibilty to push in their chair, walk in the classroom and so on. Lets hope it filters back home for all of us to enjoy!!
Remember on Monday evening we have our traditional Family Picnic Tea at 5.30pm. This is a great opportunity to meet new families and friends. The egg and spoon race is always a favourite!
Have a happy and safe week

Week 6 in Renwick 3

On Friday the senior syndicate had their annual triathlon. We decided to cheer then on!!

This week we have been very busy with Steph in the afternoons creating wonderful artwork. We have been learning how to create different lines and then how to make a line portrait of a friend.

Next Week....
Our letters of the week will be 'd' and 'g'. Watch out for the alphabet books coming home! We will be learning the tricky words 'we' and 'go'. In maths we are concentrating on recognising and writing numbers 1-10. Although the children have amazing number knowledge we need to be able to record this information accurately.

Due to the chill in the air we have decided to put an end to our swimming. Little bodies cool down very quickly and we want to keep everyone well.

This week I read a book that introduced the idea of a worm farm to the children. They appeared very enthusiastic to create such a 'farm' at school. Therefore this Tuesday morning we have an expert coming to talk to us about creating a worm farm here at school.

On Thursday we are off to the Suter Art Gallery to an excellent exhibition by Sally Burton. This links very nicely with our Friendship and Getting along themes. If you are able to assist please come and see me.

Have a happy and safe week!

Ballet 2009

Last week some children went to see Tutu's on Tour. They were treated to some wonderful ballet, beautiful costumes and sets. The children were extremely well behaved and we all felt very proud.
We have welcomed Maddy and Alexis into Renwick 3 and this week Tate will join us too. We have a grand total of 8 champions in Renwick 3.
This week we will be learning about the letters 'r' & 'm' and the tricky words 'look' and 'come'. In maths we are still working on the number that comes before or after a given number.
